Best place to raise kids in Nevada: Moapa Valley
Population: 7,012
Median family income: $59,866
Runner-up: Boulder City
Settled by Mormon farmers on a fertile finger of what is now the edge of Lake Mead, the Moapa Valley contains the communities of Overton, Logandale, Glendale, and Moapa. The Clark County Fairgrounds are in Logandale and host a Bluegrass Music Festival in October, Pomegranate Festival in November, and a fair and rodeo in April. Many of the home sites are built in desert, though the farming heritage and rural feel continue today.
