Kodiak, the main city on Kodiak Island, is the main gateway to the island and has an airport and ferry terminal. About a one-hour flight from Anchorage, the city is home to four public elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and Kodiak College, a branch of the University of Alaska Anchorage.
