Part of New York's greater metro area, Hunterdon County has its share of historical sites and hospitable towns, but the big draw is its rural feel and endless parks. The area is dotted with nature preserves, low mountains, arboretums, and streams that invite hiking, biking, and moments outside. The county had the highest property taxes for New Jersey, according to 2005 to 2009 census estimates, although the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs said that in 2010, Bergen County paid the greatest amount.
