Derek Jeter hit a home run to become the 28th player in Major League Baseball history to reach the 3,000-hit milestone. The shortstop is the first player to reach the mark for the New York Yankees, the most successful sports franchise in North America. The hit, a solo home run to left field, came on a 3-2 third-inning pitch from Tampa Bay’s David Price at Yankee Stadium.
