The city experienced rapid growth in the past decade and now has a population of 10,208, compared with 2,484 in 2000, according to U.S. Census data. Rankings by Onboard Informatics show that Vail schools outperform others in the state in math and science. As for recreation, the town is near parks, nature preserves, and conservation areas.
