Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy took a divisive stand on gay marriage, and it resulted in a sales windfall. As comedian Stephen Colbert pointed out, Chick-fil-A seems to have “stumbled on a new strategy to help struggling businesses in this down economy.” But the strategy is hardly a new one.
