Why he’s on the list: It’s nearly impossible to follow a year in which Mickelson granted sports lovers the heart-warming thrill of watching him win his third Masters. Perhaps it’s fitting that he was recently elected to the World Golf Hall of Fame, to be inducted in May 2012. He’s still a contender, with the mojo for a few more majors in him.
