LeBron James

Power 100 rank: 4
Rank last year: 11
Sport: NBA/Miami Heat—F
Age: 27
Most recent notable achievement: 2009 and 2010 NBA MVP
Earnings: $61,000,000
Key sponsors: Nike, Sprite, McDonald’s, Audemars Piguet

Why he’s on the list: Maybe it was the pressure of “the Decision.” King James averaged 26.7 points per game during the regular season, but dropped to 17.8 points per game in the NBA finals, during Miami’s defeat by the Dallas Mavericks in what James called a “personal failure.” The controversy around his free agency signing after back-to-back MVP years made him both beloved and notorious. The sponsors appear to be betting that James will be back in the NBA Finals.
