Surface-Conduction Electron-Emitter
These displays use the same basic technology as a CRT but squash it flat. All the pixels have their own electron-beam emitters that, when turned on, trigger phosphorescent chemicals to emit light. These screens are produced only by Canon and Toshiba, and they can’t yet compete with large plasma, LCD, or projection systems.
