Not long ago the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) was a sleepy, lumbering dinosaur of a financial institution--even though it was the biggest bank in a nation of 152 million. That image has changed since S. Ali Raza, a 30-year veteran of Bank of America Corp., took over as chairman and president in 2000.
