Hugh D. Guthrie, 86
Technical Adviser
National Energy Technology Laboratory
Morgantown, West Virginia
Guthrie, a chemical engineer, worked for Shell Oil for more than 30 years and did a stint in energy policy in the Ford Administration. He still keeps up with about a dozen technical journals. "He's quite a knowledge bank for the rest of us," says his boss, William Lawson.
Says Guthrie: "When I finally decide to retire I'm going to write a book. The only thing I've decided is the title: An Ordinary Life Can Be Extraordinary."
