In Search of Identity

Credit: Nikolai Cornell, Art Center College of Design

In Search of Identity is an interactive exhibit that allows visitors to explore an artist’s work by becoming a part of it. The fluid experience of the interface, including the interactive timeline, is aided by embedded sensors that respond to the user’s input. A unique projection technique using half-silvered glass embedded in the human-scale display directly reacts to the position of the viewer’s body in space. The display’s reflective quality also gives the user an enhanced feeling of connection with the exhibit. The display’s aesthetics reference the photographer's work through the use of detailed line-work and patterning that allows the work to speak for itself without imposing on it.
