From a real stagecoach to a first-edition Lewis & Clark journal, collectibles are climbing in price. Here's a sampling

The Old West has been hot among collectors lately. That's partly because the bicentennial celebration of the Lewis & Clark expedition, which lasted from 1804 to 1806, is in full swing.

Memorabilia -- whether maps, historical documents and manuscripts, cowboy spurs, and even old stagecoaches -- are commanding top dollar these days. And art of the Old West has been achieving record prices since at least 1998.
