Harlan Weisman, 53

Group chairman of pharmaceutical research and development, Johnson & Johnson

Weisman was head of research and development at Centocor -- which developed the now-blockbuster rheumatoid arthritis drug Remicade -- when J&J bought the company in 1999. Before that, he taught cardiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Once at J&J, Weisman worried that he'd find a big company's bureaucracy onerous. Instead, he found that working there "was like being in a candy store when you were a child and being able to select from so many opportunities," he says. "This is the best show in town. There is no better place to be."
