Spreading the Word

Cummins implemented HSAs in 2004. Some 47% of eligible workers have signed up for them or HRAs. Monthly employee contributions to HSAs are about half of what they would be for conventional insurance.

Results: Cummins implemented software to let employees project their health expenses under both HSAs and conventional insurance. Also put kiosks in factories to help nonoffice workers access the technology.

Next Up: By 2007, it plans to implement tools to help workers find ratings of doctors and hospitals
