Architecture: Hilton Group's Conrad Tokyo

There's no chance of getting lost in translation at the Hilton Group's latest luxury hotel, the Conrad Tokyo. Opened in July, 2005, the 37-story building combines Japanese aesthetics with modern comfort for as little as $300 a night. Conrad credits its commitment to design with attracting three-star Michelin chef Gordon Ramsey to the hotel's restaurant.

Parent company Hilton isn't flinching at the costs of increasing its 21 Conrad properties to 50 by 2010 -- its shares are up 12% over last year, helped no doubt by the 58 awards the travel industry has already showered on Conrad hotels from Bangkok to Brussels.
