Chocolate Chips
Product: Cadbury Schweppes' Cadbury Snaps
At first glance, Cadbury Snaps look just like chocolate-covered Pringles. Sound gross? The Brits don't think so. Since Cadbury Schweppes launched the wafer-thin, chocolate-coated cereal chips last fall, they've shot into the company's 10 best-selling chocolate treats. In its first year, Snaps generated more than $17.5 million for the 170-year-old brand that produces Dairy Milk bars.
Last year, Cadbury Schweppes bagged The Gold Award from respected British food magazine The Grocer for the milk-chocolate, orange, and hazelnut flavored chips. In spring, it added mint, coconut, and honeycomb versions to the line. Year-to-date, the share price is up 30%. For Cadbury Schweppes, life is indeed sweet.
