Star Brand

The Philips Logo

The U.S. doesn't have a monopoly on stars and stripes. Philips first used the now instantly recognizable motif in its advertising and promotional material in 1925. There are conflicting views as to what the wavy lines and star spangles represent, but most agree it is either radio waves traveling through the air or electric lighting -- both important markets for Philips. The logo was registered as a trademark in 1934.
