Tetris, a wildly popular and long-lived puzzle game, was first invented in the mid-1980s by Russian computer engineer Alexey Pajitnov. Inspired in part by Pentomino, a puzzle game, Tetris is far from a shooter or a movie-based title, yet continues to capture gamers' attention. Nintendo will release a new version, Tetris DS, in March, 2006.
