In February, a Rhode Island jury found that Sherwin Williams (SHW), NL Industries (NL), and Millenium Holdings had made a public nuisance by selling lead paint in the state decades ago. Though the companies don't have to pay damages, costs for cleaning up the lead paint from buildings in the state could run into the billions. Observers expect vigorous appeals from the companies.
