Apple in the Big Apple
Apple Computer is opening a dazzling retail store on Fifth Avenue in New York City
Five years after critics said Apple was making a mistake by opening retail stores, a big glass cube in Midtown Manhattan proves otherwise. If the store proves as successful on average as the 146 others Apple currently has open—which is about $4,000 square feet per year—this 10,000 square foot facility could easily clear $40,000,000 per year. That it's nestled within some of the best retail space in all the world, neighboring Bergdorf Goodman and Central Park, suggests it could do much better.
