What does a 20-employee oil outfit in Gabon have in common with the maker of athletic T-shirts and a chain of laser eye-surgery centers? Theyíre among this yearís class of Hot Growth companies. Every spring, BusinessWeek sorts through a database of more than 10,000 publicly traded companies to find the 100 fastest growers among the small fry. Specifically, we rank them by sales, net income growth, and return on capital over the previous three years. We also require that their stock trades for at least $5 a share, and that each has sales of at least $50 million -- but less than $1.5 billion. Here are the top 10 extraordinary companies that made our cut.
