Big-Brained and Wireless
Paul Jacobs
Sure, he's the founder's son, but Qualcomm's brainy chief executive Paul Jacobs knows his way around the wireless business as well as his old man. The PhD holder has been granted 25 patents for his inventions in wireless technology. Before taking the reins, he ran Qualcomm's wireless handset division, which developed the first digital phones based on the CDMA standard now used in hundreds of millions of mobile devices. He also pushed for the inclusion of global positioning system technology in phones and developed BREW, which lets users download applications into handsets.
