Glam-Rock ISP

David Bowie

A rock star if there ever was one, David Bowie broke ground with his very own Internet service provider, BowieNet. Founded in 1998 under the name of Bowie's Internet entertainment company, UltraStar, the ISP gave users access to exclusive works as well as interaction with the artist. UltraStar no longer provides the BowieNet dial-up Internet service, but still runs subscription-based entertainment communities for Bowie (under the BowieNet name) and other stars like the Rolling Stones, Sting, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
