Boeing's Next Composite
After getting its 787 Dreamliner airborne, Boeing will redesign its best-selling plane, the single-aisle 737, incorporating the same kind of lightweight composite materials that have given the Dreamliner an edge in fuel efficiency. For now, the 737 continues to sell well. Indonesia's Lion Air placed an order at Farnborough for 30 of the 737-900 model, shown here, worth $2.2 billion at list prices.
