Cyndi Lauper
Money Changes Everything
"Mo' money, mo' problems," the late rapper Notorious B.I.G. famously said. Well, pop diva Cyndi Lauper popularized a similar sentiment with her 1984 recording of this tune. Less known is the fact that Atlanta rock band the Brains originally wrote and recorded the song four years earlier, in a more raucous version. Centering on a breakup brought on by the almighty dollar, this number is an important reminder that sometimes money really can't buy love.
