6. Domesticated animals and agriculture
Cows, goats, chickens, pigs, horses, camels, and sheep…. They allowed us to stop scrambling endlessly to chase an antelope or woolly mammoth. Grains allowed us to grow much stronger, and cotton, hemp, and silk from worms gave us the fiber we need for clothing. Where once every person had to scramble to get their food every day, now globally only 12% of the population is needed to produce all our food, In the U.S. it's a mere 2%.
