Teachers beware: Portable devices and the Internet are increasing the temptation to cheat in high schools and on college campuses

Gone are the days of notes scribbled on the palm of a hand or scrolled cheat sheets tucked into a sleeve. A new era of digital deception is infiltrating the classroom. iPods, phones with cameras and text-messaging, and the Internet are making cheating easier and more prevalent for students of all ages.
In a 2005 study conducted by the Duke-affiliated Center for Academic Integrity, 70% of students in a 60-college survey admitted to some form of cheating; ditto for more than 70% of students surveyed in 61 high schools.
