Search Engine
Of course, that’s what Google is justifiably famous for. But few people realize the implications of Google’s huge market share of Internet searches, now at 56% and still growing. Search holds the pole position on the Net, providing the gateway to much of the vast landscape of online commerce. That’s because when people conduct a search, they’re implicitly revealing their intentions to research or buy something, and those data are far more valuable to advertisers than traditional marketing data based on demographics and other more passive attributes. For all the other ventures Google’s moving into, search will remain the bedrock service for the company.
