"I want to start a creative revolution!" says Jonas Hombert, co-founder of JayCut, a Swedish startup that offers easy-to-use video editing, with no downloads needed. Hombert, who is studying for a master's degree in industrial engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, developed the proprietary technology with five partners.
It's a natural precursor for videos posted to sites like YouTube, complementing the Net trend for people to create their own. JayCut's technology is earning Hombert lots of kudos: He was selected as Sweden's fifth most prominent IT entrepreneur this year, made the semifinals at this year's San Diego-based Venture Challenge business competition (he was named first runner-up in the semifinals competing against teams from the U.S. and Canada), and has been selected as one of 80 young people to attend the Future Entrepreneurs of the World conference in Sydney this summer.
