Walt Disney followed up the immense success that Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs enjoyed with Pinocchio. The film's lack of early success has been attributed both to Americans' growing preoccupation with World War II and to Pinocchio's glaring absence of romance, something that, after Snow White, became associated with Disney. However, thanks in part to the award-winning music and the consistent re-releases for which Disney movies have become known, Pinocchio has grown in popularity, and will go down with Snow White and Fantasia as a groundbreaker among animated full-length films.
