Celebrex
Released on the market in 1999, Celebrex was prescribed to 6.4 million patients within its first year, grossing $1.5 billion in first-year sales. The so-called "super aspirin," which helps to relieve pain caused by arthritis, experienced a significant sales drop in 2005 when a similar drug, Vioxx, was taken off the market for safety reasons. Print and television advertising for Celebrex has since resumed, in 2006 and April, 2007, respectively.
