Garcia took the NFTE course as a senior at Roosevelt High School. After her NFTE teacher had taught the class how to make business cards, Garcia made business cards for her mother's boyfriend. That was the start of Tarjetas de Negocio, a company that makes business cards specifically for members of the Hispanic community.

The young entrepreneur says that the most important lesson she learned from taking the NFTE class and writing her business plan was, "If it's hard, don't give up, and don't be afraid to ask for help."
