SEAT Altea Freetrack
Where sold: Europe
Starting price: $35,000 (est.)
The Spanish automaker, a subsidiary of Volkswagen, unveiled the Altea Freetrack in July, as its take on a crossover vehicle based on a compact car. It has some off-road capability, but even more off-road styling cues, such as heavy use of plastic cladding around the front fascia and bumpers. SEAT (which stands for Sociedad Española de Automoviles de Turismo) considers the Altea Freetrack to be a family vehicle, although U.S. families would probably find it on the small side. It is available with front-drive or all-wheel drive. Engine options include two diesels (140 hp or 170 hp) or one gasoline (200 hp), all with four cylinders. Icing is to be announced.
