A Better Night's Sleep
Easton, Pa.
Amit Nar wants to help you get a better night's sleep. When he graduated from Babson College this May, he returned to his hometown of Easton, Pa., where his father is a sleep physician, and opened a center to test and treat sleep disorders such as apnea, insomnia, and narcolepsy. Nar says there is a growing market for sleep centers, because of increased awareness within the medical community that many Americans aren't sleeping well and a willingness on the part of health insurers to pay for testing and treatment.
His hotel-like facility opened in October with four rooms equipped with queen-size Tempurpedic beds. He expects revenues of around $500,000 in 2008. Nar says his biggest business challenge has been finding qualified technicians who can monitor and diagnose patients. He plans to open additional facilities in the area and to outsource services to hospitals and other medical facilities.
