“Azizah is for women who put Islam at the center of their lives. We make certain not to push an agenda, but our faith informs everything we do, from our business model down to the kinds of stories we write. My co-founder, Marlina Soerakoesoemah, and I include one section in the magazine that specifically addresses Islam. And we cover other issues such as the Patriot Act, birth control, and even fashion from a Muslim perspective. I never thought, ‘I should start a Muslim company.’ My religion shapes my lifestyle and my state of being, and so it was natural that it be a part of my business as well.”
