Philanthropist John Breen worked with the United Nations to launch FreeRice, a site which has the dual aim of improving literacy and reducing hunger in underdeveloped nations. Visitors take a vocabulary quiz, and for each right answer the site's advertisers donate 20 grains of rice to people in need.
