Diapers generated 3.6 million tons of waste in 2005, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Portland (Ore.) company gDiapers developed a way to make diapers more eco-friendly by using a cotton outer diaper with a biodegradable liner that dissolves and can be flushed down the toilet. The product is based on Cradle to Cradle design principles that emphasize the constant life cycle of the materials in a product—there's no waste in the waste.
