"People like to get as far from the boss as possible, but it's a good idea to talk to that boss just to get an idea of what it is that makes the boss toxic. Maybe the boss wants control; maybe it's a personality thing. If the boss doesn't want to talk, try to observe the boss' actions as much as possible. Try to get invited to meetings with him. If you don't gain a significant change within six months, just look for something else."
