Gilbert & George
June 14 – Sept. 1
The first major retrospective in more than 25 years of the artistic pair, Gilbert Prousch and George Passmore, Gilbert & George is the largest exhibition ever mounted of their work. Known for their brightly colored, large-scale photo montages of decadent urban scenes, religious fundamentalism, and sex advertisements, this provocative pair has been creating art together since they met at St. Martin's School of Art in 1967. More than 45 pictures from 1971 to the present are on display at the Milwaukee Art Museum, which celebrates its 130th anniversary this year.
