In June, Honda began limited production of its fuel-cell car, the FCX Clarity. While full commercialization isn't expected until at least 2016, Honda looks determined to use the sleek Clarity to enhance its green credentials. Honda readied two buses to whisk reporters to the event, where it hosted test drives and gave presentations and a tour of the factory where the stylish-looking cars, already being used in commercials, are built. The FCX Clarity's technology is impressive: It looks and drives well, goes from a standstill to 60 mph in 9 seconds, and has a range of 280 miles on a full tank of liquid hydrogen. The big challenge, though, will be bringing production costs down to a viable level for mass production.
