At 21 years old, the Calvert Social Investment Equity fund is one of the longest-lived socially responsible funds available to investors. Stock from companies that profit from alcohol, tobacco, or gambling are rejected in favor of those from companies, such as Procter & Gamble, that have positive environmental and labor records.

Strategy: The Calvert fund still avoids companies in the alcohol, tobacco, and gambling industries. But, recently the fund has become an active promoter of small business loans, social innovation, and microcredit for low-income individuals. Today, the fund seeks companies that engage in social venture capital and community investing.

Investments Include:
Apple (AAPL)
Cisco Systems (CSCO)
Novartis (NVSY)
