The Pax World Balanced fund is the largest individual socially responsible fund, with more than $2 billion in assets under management. According to Morningstar, the fund is an analysts' favorite in the moderate-allocation category.

Strategy: The fund's assets are split almost equally: 60% of assets are in equity securities such as common and preferred stocks; the rest are in debt securities. But these allocations are not written in stone. The fund's equity holdings can be adjusted to anywhere from 50% to 75% of the total assets, if the market demands it. The fund's debt holdings can also be shifted to 25% to 50% of its total assets.
