Sales first half, 2008: 40,633
Sales first half, 2007: 62,487
Percent change: -35%
Even with sales down 35%, the TrailBlazer isn't doing that much worse than the whole midsize SUV market, which fell 26.3% in the first half. As with other truck-based SUVs, gas mileage is poor. With the standard, 285-hp, inline six-cylinder engine, the TrailBlazer gets an EPA-estimated 14 mpg city and 20 mpg highway. The optional eight-cylinder gets only 12 mpg city and 16 mpg highway. Bucking the trend, TrailBlazer sales jumped 28.2%, to 10,516, in June. GM's 72-Hour Sale incentive promotion in late June probably helped.
