The Jeep Wrangler was hot in 2007. Sales hit a record, thanks to its first four-door version, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, which was introduced in 2006 for the 2007 model year. In 2008, the novelty seems to have worn off, and the downturn in SUVs has caught up with the Wrangler. The plant that builds it escaped Chrysler's June 30 factory cutbacks, but Wrangler sales are losing steam. For the month of June, Wrangler sales were down 39.1% from a year ago.
