Coming soon: Office chairs designed for collaboration—the hottest topic at Davos earlier this year. Steelcase’s Cobi chair, due out early next year, has a seatback with a soft rim (for sitting backward) and a seat that allows comfortable perching on the right or the left. The aim, Steelcase says, is to prompt employees to move toward each other while brainstorming. Haworth’s Very Chair, available this fall, has a wide seat, a flexible back, and similar goals. And the Sideways Chair from HAG by Izzy—out in August—features a seat cushion rounded on all sides to facilitate more creative squirming.
