Ford Expedition sales fell by more than one-third in the first half of 2008, prompting Ford Motor Co. to shut down the plant that makes it and the Lincoln Navigator for six weeks, starting June 23. Trade-in values have also fallen, with the lack of new-vehicle demand. According to Black Book, the average trade-in value for a 2006 Ford Expedition in average condition fell more than $5,000 since March. "I've never seen anything like it, where segments have fallen as much as they have, and as quick as they have," said Ricky Beggs, Black Book vice-president and managing editor.
