Korean automaker Hyundai Motors had hoped to begin selling a $5,000 compact in China in two years. But rising prices for steel and other raw materials have led Hyundai to rethink its plans for the Chinese market. The company now will launch a larger car for 2010 with its Chinese partner, Beijing Automotive Industry.
