Arrival Mishaps

When planes arrive, they are met by an agent bearing a "load sheet," a list of what bags to expect and where they are going. Bags are off-loaded from the plane's cargo hold, either manually or in containers, and driven to the arrivals terminal. If they are being transferred to another flight, they may or may not be manually screened and re-sorted, depending on an airport's policy. It is at this stage where 49% of bag mishaps occur.

If bags are at their final destination, they are driven to the baggage claim carousel, where passengers wait to take them away.
