Tribune earned $82 million in income last year from its equity investment in Television Food Network, up 12% from $72 million in 2006. E. W. Scripps (SSP) is the majority owner of the cable network, which broadcasts shows like Iron Chef America, Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, and Food Detectives to more than 90 million U.S. households. In July, Scripps spun off its networks and interactive media divisions. The resulting company, Scripps Networks Interactive (SNI), is a possible buyer, bankers say. Zell could net $850 million for the company's 31% stake in Food Network.
